Description

This walks guarantees close up views of lots of animals, from deer and sheep in the fields, to grey herons and little egrets roosting in the marsh. Tie in with a visit to Powderham Castle and Farm Shop or just enjoy the sight of one of Devon’s oldest family homes on the west bank of the Exe estuary.

Park for free at Powderham Farm Shop/ Café and take the track at the bottom of the car park (towards the estuary). Follow this track besides the deer park until you reach a footpath sign pointing right, then loop around to reach a quiet road. Walk along the road besides the train line and take the first right back towards Powderham Farm Shop, completing the loop back at the car park.

There is one kissing gate on route - a more accessible option for wheelchairs/pushchairs would be to follow the track besides the deer park back and forth. There are also alternative footpaths in the opposite field.

This route is dogs on leads.
